Make Money Blogging

Many people have blogs today. A blog is simply a website designed for the author to make regular updates talking about a specific set of topics or about life in general. When you’re deciding on how you can work from home, blogging could be a good choice for you. The basic process is to put up a blog, post content, get people to read your content, and monetise the web traffic that you get. While it sounds simple, there are a number of important details that go into the creation and operation of a successful blog that makes money over time. Here we’re going to walk you through the process of creating a blog in a way that will help you to build a following on the Internet and make some money.

Choose an Industry Before You Begin

It’s very important that you prepare and have a clear vision for your blog before you ever begin the actual blogging. The idea is that your blog will focus on one set of topics, or one industry. You’ll be able to more easily make money from the traffic you get because you will have a really good idea of what kind of people are reading your blog because of the focused content.

When choosing an industry to blog about, there are two requirements. First, it has to be something you can write about intelligently. If you don’t know anything at all about the industry in question, then you should probably do a lot of research or pick something else instead. The second requirement is that the industry has to be something that you’re interested in. This is critical because you’re going to be putting a lot of work into your blog without any results at the beginning. If you like the industry you’re writing about, then you’ll be more motivated to keep working at it instead of giving up.

Building Authority in the Community

Because the Internet allows people from all over the world to connect with each other and talk about their interests, message boards and online forums are available for almost any topic you can imagine. As an aspiring blogger, your job is to use the forums and message boards in your community to your advantage by building authority and having people see you as a knowledgeable person in your field. Once you have this position of respect, you can leverage it to get people to read your blog since they will want to hear what you have to say on industry topics.

Another way to build authority for yourself and your blog is by building relationships with other bloggers using the comments features. If you leave good comments that engage both the author and other readers, then you won’t be seen as being a spammer or being pretentious. The key to building trust with bloggers and their readers is to always add value to the conversation at hand.

Turning Traffic into Money

Once you’re getting traffic, it’s time to make some money from it. For niche blogs like the one we’re talking about making here, there are three main avenues for monetization. The first method is paid advertising. You can seek out specific companies and ask if they would like to advertise on your blog, or you can sign up with a contextual advertising company that will act as a broker and automatically provide you with advertisements to place on your blog.

The second method is promoting and selling products and services through an affiliate program. With this method, you act as a virtual salesman as you promote products or services related to your industry on your blog. When a reader makes a purchase, then you get a portion of the profit as a commission.

The last common method for the monetization of a niche blog is providing a paid content section. The idea is that you offer a special premium section of your blog only available for people who have bought a membership. This tends to work best in industries where your readers will be trying to make money or build their own business, though it also works well in education.
